Fall Kids Snacks

October 15, 2017

Alright friends I know you have seen these ideas ALL over your Pinterest boards, everyone has. But I've taken those kid friendly snacks and made my own versions that are easier, quicker, and children approved. Not only do I love it when my kids eat what I give them but I also love it when they help me make it. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am a very large advocate for getting your children to eat healthy food (post about tips and tricks coming soon!). One of the ways I have gotten my kids to eat love eating their fruits and veggies is by letting them help me make things out of them. My son LOVES helping out in the kitchen and snack time is the perfect time to do so. Here are some fall snacks we've been working on and loving lately.

PUMPKIN ORANGES:

Now while these look and seem pretty self explanatory I will give you one tip: Use skinny pieces of celery. It will look sleeker and more importantly your kids wont have to chew through a hunk of celery. So grab some Clementines and stick in a piece of celery and you've got yourself a yummy pumpkin that your kids will love to eat.

Side Note:  The football pretzels you see in the picture are from Costco and have been a HUGE hit in our family for my kids and my husband. The jug lasts us the whole month even with the big eaters we have in our home.

MONSTER APPLES:

My children LOVE...I repeat LOVE marshmallows. I'm pretty sure they could eat a whole bag in one sitting but, I haven't let them try. I love using marshmallows as rewards but I also love combining them with healthy snacks so that they are at least getting some nutrition into their bodies with them. These fun little monster apples kept my 2 year-old giggling all day! He loved spreading the peanut butter as well.

I cut apple slices, laid them flat and put peanut butter on one side. I then staked the marshmallows in the middle. The eyes are Cheerios stuck on with peanut butter.

MONSTER SANDWICH:

If there is one meal during the day that more often then not turns into a disaster of tears and food not wanting to be eaten its lunch time. For some reason my kids always have a hard time eating it. So I decided to monster things up a bit. I made these little sandwiches while my 1 year old was occupied before my son came home from school and had them sitting on the table when he walked in. He thought they were the coolest things "EVER" and proceeded to eat every bit of his lunch. MOM WIN!! I used celery and raisins for the eyes and used my knife to cut edges in the cheese. I also used a cookie cutter (find it here) for the bread, or you can use a cup and cut around the side with a knife. You can even make these with your kids and let them design their own monster!
