Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cauldrons

October 15, 2017
As I mention in Fall Kids Snacks, my kids are in love with marshmallows . These bite size treats are perfect for when I feel like giving my kids an extra treat...or when I need to bribe them (don't tell me you have never done it). We endearingly call these Witch Cauldrons in our house because of the following conversation between my husband and I:

Me: {sends picture to husband} What do you think?
Husband: What are they supposed to be?
Me: What do you mean what are they supposed to be:(?
Husband: I'm sorry. I don't know what they are? Broomsticks? Cauldrons?
Me: {bursting out laughing} They aren't supposed to be anything! They are marshmallows covered in Chocolate!

I guess I had been making lots of "things" lately. So the name Witch Cauldrons was born. And if you stretch your imagination a little bit you can see it.

These are super easy and fun to make. I'm also all about making snacks and treats that I can pop into my mouth in one bite. I used white chocolate for colors other than brown that I wanted to make and dropped some food coloring in it as I was giving it a final stir.

Put your pretzels in your marshmallows before you dip them. It will make it much easier to pull out. I would recommend melting your chocolate in a double broiler (you can find a great one on Amazon) but if you don't have one no worries, your microwave will do! If you do melt your chocolate in the microwave listen to the following tip.

*****Place at least 1/2 c of chocolate chips in a deep microwavable bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds and Stir. Then microwave your chocolate in increments of 8 seconds until your chocolate is smooth and falls off your spoon/fork at an even pace. If you get your chocolate to hot it will seize. I learned this lesson the hard way in my Confectionery class when I was trying to quickly finish a project and I've never made it again.*****

Make sure you put your sprinkles on right after dipping the marshmallow and let them dry on Parchment paper or greased aluminum foil. Enjoy these delicious treats.
